SeeNext, through its business news unit SeeNews, and Alpha Research are preparing to launch a new Business Sentiment Index for Bulgaria, designed to provide a broader view of the conditions shaping business activity and future competitiveness.
The inaugural 2026 edition will be released to the public in early November, alongside the 19th annual edition of SeeNews’ SEE TOP 100 ranking. The index combines hard economic and business data with survey responses from some of the biggest companies operating in the country and is built around six pillars covering macroeconomic resilience, the institutional framework, human capital, the business environment and infrastructure, future readiness and risk resilience.
The initial results point to a mixed picture. Bulgaria’s strongest performance comes from macroeconomic resilience, while several of the conditions businesses rely on for longer-term growth remain below the benchmark.
The macroeconomic pillar benefits from relatively strong structural buffers. Low public debt, strong foreign direct investment inflows and a positive growth outlook support the country’s economic position, while deeper integration with the EU, Schengen and the euro area adds to the predictability of cross-border business. At the same time, the outlook for price stability and the fiscal balance is weaker, pointing to pressures that could limit some of these advantages.
The findings also highlight a number of longer-term challenges.
Human capital emerges as an important constraint and digital adoption is another area where the gap is visible. The most pronounced relative weakness appears in risk resilience.
The Business Sentiment Index is intended as a tool for understanding these different dimensions together, rather than focusing on a single measure of economic performance. Future editions could also be expanded to cover other Southeast European markets.

Проектът ще бъде изпълнен в рамките на 18 месеца от екипа на СииНекст в партньорство с Алфа Рисърч ООД и проектът предвижда реализирането на индустриални научни изследвания от два експертни екипа за създаването на радикално иновативен в световен мащаб информационен продукт – серия от индекси за регулярно измерване и оповестяване на състоянието и тенденциите по държави, сектори и теми, които могат да се ползват за вземането на решения на микро и макро-икономическо равнище. Продуктът ще се превърне в уникален инструмент за проследяване на различни сфери от икономиката, съчетавайки формални, обективни показатели за състоянието им, с изразените субективни оценки и очакванията на идентифицирани заинтересовани страни, които имат въздействие върху бъдещото им развитие.
Това уникално съчетание от типове данни, в комбинация с методика, която гарантира стандартизирането им, осигуряват редица потребителски ползи – широк обхват на анализираните фактори, сравнимост между отделни сектори, държави и региони, висок потенциал за автоматизация и съответно честота на замерванията, които дават допълнителна актуалност и по-висока прогностична стойност на решението.
